As spring approaches, I think duster season comes. It is cold in Madrid nowadays, but I am craving for the right temperatures to wear them.

Dusters can be found in different fabrics such as cotton, linen, polyester, chiffon, silk or viscose but always in my wardrobe as they are versatile and polished. From kimonos to robe style ones you can find a wide range of dusters; lighter or thicker, depending on the weather, always are wardrobe staples.

Why are dusters wardrobe staples? Here you have my reasons:

• Dusters upgrade your basics making them look great.
• Dusters are a classic, so it is  worthy to invest in them since you will wear your dusters for ages if you have in neutral shades – white, navy, cream, black, olive green, red, grey or blush pink.
• Once you start using them,  you become addicted as you can pair them with almost everything: from bodycon dresses to palazzo pants.
• If you dare – that is no my case – you can mix them with crop tops showing a bit of skin.
• Dusters will make you look taller and slimmer, but you cannot be oversized because then the effect will be the contrary. If you use a small leather belt or even a grosgrain ribbon marking your waist the result will be better

A medida que se aproxima la primavera pienso que llega la temporada de los abrigos ligeros y guardapolvos. Todavía las temperaturas son muy frías para llevarlos, pero en cuanto suban un pelín me lanzaré a por ellos.

 Los abrigos tipo guardapolvo resultan versátiles y elegantes y los puedes encontrar en multitud de tejidos y texturas: encaje, poliéster, seda, algodón, viscosa o terciopelo. Son fáciles de llevar y nos hacen una figura esbelta y parecer más altas siempre que no sean excesivamente grandes. Lo aconsejable es ceñirlos a la cintura con un cinturón estrecho o una cinta de grosgrain a modo de lazo para marcar la cintura o simplemente llevarlos sueltos para que estilicen más.

Otro efecto maravilloso que tienen los guardapolvos – que nombre tan feo para una prenda tan bonita – es que dan un toque refinado y elegante a un look hecho de básicos. Una camiseta con un vaquero queda mucho mejor con un guardapolvos de flores o de un color a contraste.

Si queréis invertir en una prenda para que se convierta en un clásico, os recomiendo un buen guardapolvos en un color neutro que combine bien con la mayoría de las prendas de vuestro guardarropa para así amortizarlo y lucirlo bien.
