El otro día fui de compras y tuve una conversación curiosa con la dependienta. Me sugirió algo negro: “es muy elegante, estiliza un montón y “camufla” los kilos de más. Y le pones complementos coloridos de modo que queda menos serio”

La miré y le dije que prefería otra cosa. Me preguntó ¿qué entonces?Directamente le sugerí blanco.

“¿Blanco? Ya pero tiende a ensanchar, te va a dar más volumen del que tienes y además se mancha un montón”…

Pensé que no quería vender. Le respondí que el blanco es igual de elegante que el negro, va con todo y no tiene porque hacerme más gorda …

Con esto cambió el chip y me ofreció el vestido que llevo hoy. Un vestido muy femenino con un volante asimétrico y cuello en v y muy elegante. Lo combino con rojo para darle bríos de ahí que manoletinas, bolso, pendientes y anillo vayan en ese tono. Si muy coordinado pero luminoso y brillante… Por fin, me reconcilio con este color.

Así que tenemos razones para buscar el blanco:

• Si se usa con la prenda adecuada no engorda, nos hace más esbeltas. Por ello hay que huir de los tejidos como la lycra porque se ajustan demasiado al cuerpo y marcan las imperfecciones. Además suele transparentar de ahí que recomiende ropa interior color nude.
• El blanco se suele usar para destacar la parte del cuerpo sobre la que deseemos llamar la atención. Blusas o jerséis blancos para las que tenemos caderas anchas son una bendición. Por el contrario, si tienes mucho pecho, deja el blanco para la falda o el pantalón.
• Utilizado en rayas verticales estiliza mucho. Las rayas blancas y negras son un clásico. Y el efecto óptico es parecer más alta. Si llevas un vestido blanco añade un cinturón oscuro que creará la ilusión de curvas poderosas
• A la hora de combinar destaca más si le añadimos colores o fuertes u oscuros; con los colores pastel el blanco queda realmente bien, logrando looks dulces y suaves. Con los tonos más potentes, como el rojo o el azul Klein, el blanco combina bien.

Last week I went shopping and I had a funny experience. The shop assistant came to me and suggested politely to buy something black as it is smart, flattering and versatile. I stared at her and said, well no that is not exactly what I was thinking about. Then she replied what were you looking for? Well just something the opposite, something white.

I assumed she was shocked. I tried to be gentle and I insisted on the idea that white is also elegant, versatile and flattering. But you must know the rules to combine it. She was challenged and show me the dress I am wearing today, one of the cutest dresses I have always had. The enchanting ruffle and the V neck make the dress unique. To highlight I paired it with red accessories: big shopping bag, red ballerina flats, red earrings and statement red cocktail ring.

And here some tips to use and abuse on white:

• White could be very flattering if you do not wear very tight clothes and your underwear is seamless and nude. On the contrary if your clothes are tight all imperfections will be at sight.
• White is often used to highlight our best assets distracting attention from the worst ones. So if you want to emphasize your bust use a white shirt or top. If you have wonderful legs, then wear a white shirt or short.
• Black and white vertical stripes are very flattering and make you look taller. If you wear a white dress, add a black belt to have an hourglass figure.
• For mixing white pieces I recommend op- art combinations (black and white), pairing white with vivid colors such as red or cobalt blue or pastels for girly looks.
