WHAT CAN WE DO TO HAVE A HEALTHY HAIR?

Color processing, blow drying, straightening irons and chemical relaxers damage our hair and its health.

 I complained about my curly hair for many years but once I turned 22 I decided to embrace it and taking good care of it.

So here you have some of my tips to have a healthy hair:

  • SHAMPOOING FREQUENCY

No matter if your hair is curly, straight or wavy, shampoo is made to wash and cleanse your hair, then shampooing your hair daily is not the best idea as it causes dryness, frizz and dullness. The ideal solution is washing your hair twice or three times a week.When you wash your hair you need to clean your scalp and not all your hair as , it’s only necessary to cleanse your scalp, as shampoo removes hair natural oils causing dryness, lack of shine and frizz among other things.  In case you have an oily hair I recommend to use a good dry shampoo between hair washings.

  • WATER TEMPERATURE

Hot water expands cuticle increasing frizz, therefore use cold water to rinse your hair. On the other hand, cold water activates capillary circulation.

  • AVOID HEAT

I admit this is difficult when your hair style requires blow drying. Blow dry is enemy number one of a healthy hair because it causes breakage, end splits, fried hair…. If you absolutely can’t avoid using heat tools, use a good heat protector to prevent as much damage as possible.

  • TRIM YOUR HAIR

Hair trims are necessary specially if you have damaged ends and split ends. Trims help hair growth, however it you only want to cut the minimum amount of hair then ask your stylist for a dusting instead of a trim

  • USE THE RIGHT PROUCTS

If  you use products designed for your  hair type you will have a healthier hair. Then opt for damaged hair products, of those for dry hair, in case you have dandruff then have an anti-dandruff shampoo. Employ products to combat frizz as well as those to increase your hair shine. Even more use good conditioners to nourish and moisturize your hair. The right hair masks will give your hair a gorgeous lustre and if your problems persist ask your stylist or your dermatologist for the best products for your hair.

I could have recommended some hair products but I consider each of you has a different type of hair, then ask for help in your saloon as your stylist knows well how to pamper your hair.

El pelo teñido, el uso de calor con el secador y la plancha, el uso de productos químicos dañan nuestro cabello. Siempre me quejé de mi pelo rizado hasta que con 22 años decidí que evitar el secador y dejarlo secar al natural con un buen corte favorecía la salud de mi pelo y me ahorraba tiempo. Hoy os quiero hablar de varios trucos para mantener la salud de vuestro pelo.

  • FRECUENCIA DE LAVADO

No importa si tu pelo es rizado, liso u ondulado, pero debes saber que el champú está hecho para limpiar tu cuero cabelludo y que lavar tu pelo a diario no es una buena idea ya que causa sequedad, encrespamiento y falta de brillo. Por ello se recomienda lavar el pelo dos o tres veces por semana. 

Cuando te laves el pelo necesitas limpiar el cuero cabelludo sin dañar el resto del pelo ya que el champú utilizado constantemente elimina la protección natural del cabello causando sequedad, falta de brillo y encrespamiento. Si tienes el pelo graso puedes usar champú en seco entre lavados .

  • TEMPERATURA DEL AGUA

El agua caliente  hace que la cutícula se hinche lo que favorece el encrespamiento así que os recomiendo un aclarado con agua fría que evita que el pelo quede más crespo y además activa la circulación.

  • USA PRODUCTOS ESPECÍFICOS 

Al usar productos formulados para tu tipo de pelo o para problemas específicos – caspa, pelo teñido , anti-caída, etc.- la salud de tu pelo lo agradecerá y lucirá con brillo, fuerte y sano. También aconsejo mascarillas nutritivas e hidratantes sobre todo ahora que estamos en verano.

En cualquier caso, tanto vuestro dermatólogo como vuestro estilista de cabecera os aconsejará los mejores tratamientos para mantener vuestro pelo sano.

Con todo cuidad bien vuestro cabello si queréis que luzca bonito, brillante y resplandeciente.
