TEACHER´S ATTIRE (III): LEATHER AND LACE

Under the title of Teacher Attire, I include some of the outfits I wear to school. I do not make a day to day count on my outfits but I like to include some of them in the blog.

These days we are enjoying an early spring weather in Madrid so I welcame my leather jacket and one of my favourite little black dresses. Mixing leather and lace could sound weird, although I love it.

My biker is old, quite old but it has become my favorite one. I have had it since 2007 and it still looks as brand new. The leather is high quality and the design combines girly details with the traditional edginess of the bikers. And the old Baby Phat team made a wonderful job with this design, among others it still keep in my closet.

As a teacher I love neutral monochrome looks so my intention was to pair it with a little black dress, black leather ballerinas and black tights. A teal and mustard scarf adds a pop of color.

The dress I am wearing today combines lace sleeves and lace side panels with a thick knit fabric. I also have had it for a long time and it is one of the pieces I take from my closet when I do not know what wear. This design by Carmakoma was a best-seller and has proved to be a very versatile piece in my wardrobe.

By the way, Carmakoma was a Danish luxury plus size brand established in 2008 which disspeared in early 2017 due to financial issues. However it has been relaunched by ONLY under a new brand name ONLY CARMAKOMA. The new designs maintain the edginess and the attitude of the older ones as well as their old slogan ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING. And for sure with attitude and hard work you could achieve your goals.

Otra vez traemos un look laboral. Como profesora me gusta llevar indumentarias en un total look a poder ser de tonos neutros oscilando entre el negro, el azul marino, el gris y en épocas primaverales color gris clarito, rosa palo o fucsia. Y hoy tocaba negro como podéis ver. Es una combinación sencilla pero apañada aprovechando piezas antiguas de mi vestuario. Por un lado tenemos mi biker de cuero favorita de hace un montón de años firmada por Baby Phat a la que añado un vestido de Carmakoma – también vintage – que combina mangas y paneles laterales de encaje con tejido elástico de punto grueso. El vestido es una chulada y es tan versátil que me ha sacado de muchos apuros. La única nota de color es el pañuelo en tonos verdosos y mostazas que alegra el conjunto restándole seriedad.

Por cierto, Carmakoma despareció la pasada primavera por motivos financieros y ha sido relanzada de nuevo como ONLY CARMAKOMA rescatando las prendas elegantes, arriesgadas y minimalistas que caracterizaron a la marca originaria. Y como decían y siguen manteniendo en su eslógan LA ACTITUD LO ES TODO. Y si llevan razón con esfuerzo, actitud y trabajo podemos conseguir nuestras metas.
